Ancient Meteor Explosion & The Bible

About the show

New evidence suggests a meteoric explosion similar to the 1908 Tunguska event may have been responsible for the destruction of an ancient Bronze Age civilization linked to Sodom and Gomorrah. Associate professor in the University of Central Florida Judaic Studies Program, Kenneth Hanson (YouTube) joined Ian Punnett (Twitter) to discuss how this explosion on the northeast corner of the Dead Sea all but vaporized this ancient site and surrounding area, proving that the biblical story is not entirely a fable and establishing the concept of apocalypse found in Dead Sea Scrolls.

"Some kind of meteoric aerial fireball literally exploded over the north end of the Dead Sea about 1700 BCE," Hanson reported. Pottery shards uncovered at a site called Tall el-Hammam were covered with a frothy melted surface which indicates they were briefly exposed to temperatures well in excess of 2000 degrees Fahrenheit, he explained, noting that is the approximate heat of volcanic magma. The high-heat explosive event stripped fertile soil from a 25-kilometer-wide circular plain called Middle Ghor, vaporized structures, and poured super-heated brine from the Dead Sea over the land, Hanson continued. The area was uninhabitable, he added.

According to Hanson, this ancient meteoric event coincides with the Genesis 19 account of Sodom and Gomorrah, and gave rise to the concept of apocalypse found in the Dead Sea Scrolls. "The memory of that apocalypse became ingrained in the psyche [of the Dead Sea scroll writers]," he said. Hanson also spoke about Moses as a leader, the endlessly disputatious nature of Judaism, and psychedelic drug references in the Bible.

CBD Benefits

In the first hour, Ian revealed he suffers from cervicogenic headaches and has found relief by using CBD oil. He spoke with hemp industry pioneer Christopher Boucher about the health benefits of CBD (cannabidiol). CBD regulates the neurotransmitter serotonin which controls mood, appetite, and sleep, and it reduces inflammation 30 times more than typical over-the-counter analgesics, Boucher explained. "This is a medicine that can help a lot of people," he said. Boucher reported on former New England Patriots star Rob Gronkowski who has used CBD to alleviate injuries caused by playing the sport, and wants to introduce it to the NFL so players can avoid taking opiates for pain relief. About 80 percent of people taking CBD feel a benefit from it, he suggested, noting CBD reduces pain and increases quality of life.
