Counter-Terrorism & Politics/ Timetraks

About the show

In the first half, investigative reporter Peter Lance shared his analysis of recent shootings in the US, as well as candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. He also followed up on some of his previous investigations into terror suspects, Mob members, and FBI investigations. Lance announced that a film adaptation of John Gotti Jr.'s memoir Shadow of My Father (Lance wrote the foreword to the book), was finally beggining production, and is starring John Travolta as Gotti Sr. Regarding the massacre at the nightclub in Orlando, he pointed out that the FBI had twice investigated the shooter, Omar Mateen, but given him a pass-- similar to what had happened with the Tsarnaev brothers-- the Boston Marathon bombers. He believes the FBI mismanages its investigations, squanders resources, and too often overlooks homegrown terror suspects. More here.

He detailed his investigation into the DUI hit-and-run manslaughter death of a young woman in Santa Barbara by the aide to a Liberal congresswoman who has close family ties to both the Clinton and Obama Whitehouses, and suggested this could emerge as a scandal to a Hillary Clinton administration if she gets elected. Regarding Trump, Lance cited the comments of author Tony Schwartz (the ghostwriter for Trump's book The Art of the Deal) who characterized him as a sociopath and not a particularly successful businessperson. In the latter half, futurist Paul Guercio, who uses a software-based forecasting technology called the Merlin Project, commented on the Timetraks (graphical snapshots or timelines) of the presidential candidates and other people/topics in the news. Bernie Sanders, who of all the candidates, had the best Timetrak during this election cycle, might have been the nominee if his campaign hadn't been sabotaged by the DNC, he declared.

Clinton's VP choice Tim Kaine doesn't have a particularly strong Timetrak, while Mike Pence gives an assist to Trump, he reported. Paul Ryan's Timetrak doesn't show much activity from now through 2020, which suggests Democrats may win the next two elections, Guercio surmised. Additional Timetraks can be viewed on Instagram.
