UFO Year in Review

About the show

George Knapp reviewed some of the top UFO stories of 2009 with Alejandro Rojas & Antonio Huneeus of Open Minds TV in the first two hours, and Mark Easter and Chuck Reever, affiliated with MUFON, in the second half of the show. Rojas talked about some remarkable recent sightings in Argentina, in which a cigar-shaped object was seen by multiple witnesses hovering over several small towns, near turbines and power stations, and was associated with blackouts. At one location, five power poles were burned down on the top in the same pattern, something that would not be seen in the case of a lightning strike, Huneeus detailed. Further material on the Argentina incidents can be found in Huneeus' report.

Another noteworthy case was the sighting of a black triangle in September 2009 in North Carolina, which MUFON investigated. A witness shined a light at the craft, and it tilted a beam back at him. Though he dodged the beam, it left burn marks on him. Later the witness had visits from Men in Black (MIBs), Rojas said. More on this case here. In general, 2009 was a bit of a down year for major UFO events, though media coverage remained strong, Rojas commented.

Easter spoke about several cases of solid orange globes seen near mines in Nevada. Witnesses described the globes appearing, vanishing, and then reappearing in different spots (see related article below for a video testimony & recreation). Reever recounted a case that occurred along a New York turnpike in November, in which a cigar-shaped object was slowly flying over a vehicle. An investigation team that checked the car found highly anomalous readings of EMF and static electricity. MUFON sighting reports which can now be searched in an electronic database, can be filed on this page.
