During the first three hours, the brother of convicted Martin Luther King Jr. assassin James Earl Ray, John Larry Ray joined historian Lyndon Barsten to present the case that James Earl Ray was set up as a patsy by conspirators within the U.S. govt.
FOX 2 News reporter John Auble participated in the first hour of the discussion. Having thoroughly investigated the assassination (which occurred 40 years ago on April 4th), Auble concurred that Ray didn't shoot MLK. He was a "terrible marksman," and additionally, witnesses to the assassination turned up dead or were sent to psychiatric hospitals, he said.
Further, John Larry Ray was railroaded into prison because he knew too much about his brother's covert life, Barsten contended. Ray is determined to right a 40-year wrong, clear his brother's name, and begin to get at the truth of who really killed Dr. King. There is evidence that the CIA was conducting hypnosis/mind control on James Earl Ray to turn him into a "programmable patsy," Barsten continued. The real culprits behind the assassination, Barsten suggested, were J. Edgar Hoover and Richard Helms (head of the CIA at the time), as they hated Dr. King.
The last hour of the program featured Open Lines.
