Weird Calls

About the show

During Open Lines George offered a special 'Weird' hotline for callers who wanted to share their most bizarre tales. A caller from Los Angeles claimed to have encountered a huge dragonfly the size of a bird, approximately eight inches wide by twelve inches long with two tails. Not to be outdone, a caller from Tulsa, Oklahoma recounted the time he and a friend saw something that resembled a turtle the size of Volkswagen Beetle surface in a pond. The caller said his friend shot at the giant creature, causing it to dive back beneath the water.

An emotionally distraught mother from Northwestern Washington told George that a neighbor had cursed her daughter. According to the mother, her daughter has seen flashlights in the windows, heard running on the roof, found a large gold "X" on the side of the house and witnessed green glowing lights under the doors. The daughter, who was also on the line, said she has found strange arrangements of rocks on her property, felt the house shake as in an earthquake, and has been the victim of demonic sexual attacks.

Throughout the evening, several callers shared ouija board stories as well.

The Ouija Board

In the first hour, author J. Edward Cornelius briefly discussed infamous occultistAleister Crowley as well as shared information about the ouija board. Cornelius described Crowley as a brilliant but misunderstood magician, who believed the ouija board was probably "the most dangerous implement ever given into the hands of humanity."

According to Cornelius, the ouija board opens up portals to neutral entities called elementals. These entities work through the board to fulfill the desires (evil or good) of the people playing it, he explained. Cornelius also pointed out that the ouija board can open up a portal in each individual who uses it. After a while the person may no longer need the board to make contact with spirits, he said.
