Hypnosis & the Mind

About the show

Hypnosis expert Wendi Friesen discussed various methods for programming the subconscious mind, as well as the power of the mind to affect thoughts. For instance, in one hypnosis experiment, a subject had an ice cube placed on their skin and was told they were being burned. Within an hour, a burn blister appeared in the spot where the ice was, she said.

In instances of pain control, she described how a subject was hypnotized into not feeling pain in one hand, and then showed no reaction when a needle was put in. However, in the other hand, that was not mentioned in the induction, the subject felt intense pain from the needle, and got a bruise (the other hand never bruised). Friesen said her work has generated some controversy in the hypnosis field, because she is willing to experiment in uncharted areas. She has worked with clients to combat baldness, for example, by having them visualize a switch turning on in their hair follicles. She also shared a case when she treated a child molester who wanted to change, and was able to use "regression to cause" to "dissolve and release the hook" of his attraction.

Friesen also discussed the free hypnotherapy sessions she does over the Internet via live voice chat software, with large groups of participants. Her 'webinars' take place every Tuesday night.

Hurricane Update

First half-hour guest, physicist James McCanney discussed the occurrence of Hurricane Dennis, which he thinks is linked to solar activity, such as a recent M class flare. He also believes that a number of hurricanes are being manipulated using satellite laser beam technology and dragged in certain directions. He suggested the rationale for this may be connected to rising fuel prices.
