Communicating with Keiko

About the show

Animal communicator Bonnie Norton discussed her methodology and her series of conversations that she held with Keiko the whale. The ability to communicate with animals is telepathic, she said, and is usually achieved by sending mental images back and forth. Norton mentioned that she often hears a single word or two at a time coming from an animal. The best way to get the telepathy going is to quiet one's mind, and then ask to connect with the animal, she noted. Further, one could ascertain that their dialogue was valid, if the animal changes its behavior along the lines that may have been requested.

Her first meeting with Keiko was at the Oregon Coast Aquarium and he told her that "we would like man to realize he has a tremendous affect on the planet." Another sign that the telepathy is real, said Norton, is when the creature tells you something you don't expect. This happened with Keiko, who informed her that he didn't want to leave the aquarium.

Norton said she communicated with Keiko over the next five years, often from a distance, and was able to facilitate this by looking at a photo of him. Efforts to "free" Keiko (who died in 2003) actually contributed to his ultimate demise, she believes, as he told her while he was out in the ocean that he greatly missed human contact.

The 4th Hour of show featured Open Lines, with callers sharing their unusual animal stories.
