David Yonke

Biography:

David Yonke is a veteran journalist and author whose work as the Religion Editor of The Toledo Blade led to his coverage of the Father Gerald Robinson murder case, including the trial and court appeals, and the book "Sin, Shame & Secrets." Among his journalistic honors is the 2003 Ohio Associated Press Investigative Reporter of the Year award for coverage of the clerical sexual abuse scandal. He also won the 2012 Explanatory Journalism Award from the Ohio chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists for a series on the garbage-dump workers of Guatemala City.

In 2012, Yonke founded the nonsectarian, nonprofit religion news website, Toledo Faith & Values (ToledoFAVS.com), and also runs a freelance writing, editing and consulting business, Writeminded.media. Yonke previously worked as a music critic, was an editor and reporter at The Tampa Tribune, and taught journalism at the University of Toledo and Bowling Green State University.
