John Stanley

John Stanley

Biography:

For 33 years John Stanley covered the world of movies and TV for the San Francisco Chronicle, interviewing Hollywood's leading stars, directors and writers. Simultaneously for six years he hosted KTVU Channel 2's popular Saturday night series Creature Features from a dungeon set in Oakland. Combined with the ratings success of his predecessor Bob Wilkins for eight years, the show is still one of the most fondly remembered broadcasting legends in the history of Bay Area television, running for 14 memorable years (1971-84). John's latest book is called, 'I Was a TV Horror Host'. It is a memoir recalling the "golden age" of horror hosts, when he and Bob Wilkins introduced packages of old horror and science-fiction movies, as well as an astonishing array of special guests ranging from Boris Karloff to Leonard Nimoy to William Shatner to Charlton Heston and countless other icons of a golden age of entertainment.
