Astrology/ Secret Societies

About the show

In the first half, astrologer Mark Lerner discussed how astrological patterns in birth charts, and astrological sky cycles can affect people's lives and the financial markets. He also addressed the charts of Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump. Clinton is a sun sign Scorpio, while Trump was born during a lunar eclipse, making them both powerful in completely different ways, he said. Jupiter was stationary when Trump was born, he noted, which makes him larger than life, and is part of the reason that he says whatever comes into his head. "I call him the enlightener and the frightener," he quipped. It's almost like we're facing a kind of civil war, as the country is so divided between the two candidates, he remarked, adding that Trump could continue to be a political force even if he doesn't win.

The Saturn cycle of 29 years can be looked at in economic contexts and includes the stock market crashes of 1929 and 1987-- we could see a similar bubble burst in the next year or two, he cautioned. One secret of astrology is that we are much more related to the moon than other planetary cycles, he pointed out. But the moon goes through different signs every two to 2.5 days, so someone without astrological expertise could have trouble tracking the effects on our mood, instincts, and emotions, Lerner revealed.

Researcher and author Robert Howells has spent the last twenty years investigating the history of conspiracy theories, secret societies, symbolism and esoteric thought. In the latter half, he talked about how old secret societies were driven by the same impulse as Anonymous and WikiLeaks are today. These marginalized groups rebelled against the establishments; some subversively by spreading progressive ideas through art and literature, while others were far more proactive, driving revolutions. The original Illuminati, which formed in 1776 in Bavaria, included academics and Freemasons, and sought to free society from corrupt politicians and kings, he detailed.

While the original group was very forward thinking and anti-establishment, now the term 'Illuminati' (popularized in the cult classic book trilogy Illuminatus! by Robert Anton Wilson and Robert Shea) has come to refer to an entirely different set of people-- the so-called secret rulers of the world, or members of the New World Order, Howells noted. The NWO is said to be made up of various groups put together after WWII such as the Council on Foreign Relations, Bilderberg, and Bohemian Grove, Howells detailed. It's "the idea that the elite are somehow organized and are steering society to their aims, and to the globalization of resources." The members include some of the wealthiest people in the world, including presidents and leading politicians, meeting in secret to discuss the future of the world. "To outsiders, it does look like Spectre (the global criminal organization) from the James Bond film," he mused.
