The Hubble Telescope has captured a stunning image of a star's relatively brief demise as it runs out of its nuclear fuel and emits beams of light. This image shows the Egg Nebula. According to scientists, the nebula is heated over a few thousand years by the hot remains of an aging star at its core, which excites the gas and makes it glow.
