Understanding Reincarnation

About the show

Writer Jeff Danelek discussed the evidence for reincarnation as well as the mechanics of how it works and what living multiple incarnations accomplishes. For evidence, he cited the work of Dr. Ian Stevenson (obit PDF) whose research into reincarnation began in the 1950s. He found a number of cases in which children with past-life life recall had birthmarks that matched the area of fatal wounds in their previous incarnation.

Those who die as children are more likely to quickly reincarnate while adults often take 10-15 years to come back, Danelek reported. These speedy reincarnations might be a factor in why some children experience vivid memories of a recent previous life.

The benefits of reincarnation include experiencing first-hand, different conditions such as being rich or poor, male or female, he noted. In terms of therapy, past life recall can sometimes aid people in overcoming certain phobias or anxieties, which might be related to a trauma suffered by an earlier incarnation.
