Magic, Hauntings & Shadow People

About the show

Paranormal researcher and author Rosemary Ellen Guiley spoke about topics covered in her latest work, The Encyclopedia of Magic & Alchemy. She also shared her research into Shadow People, ghosts and hauntings. Magic rituals, involving objects and movements, can be performed for both positive and negative purposes.Items such as wands can be imbued with power and energy, and candles serve as potent symbols, she explained. In addition to prayer and meditation, amulets with sacred stones can offer spiritual protection, she noted.

Guiley discussed the life of the brilliant and infamous magician Aleister Crowley (1875-1947), who advanced the idea of doing what your higher self dictates. He was said to be able to conjure demons in psychic attacks against others. One such demon was described as a "blobby thing" with a long tongue that was capable of sucking out a person's vitality.

According to her research, there are different types of Shadow People. Most common are the "bedroom visitors," but some entities are seen as merely flat shadows moving along a wall and through a room as if they were on a specific track. She speculated Shadow People could be "bleed-throughs" from another reality who are not even aware of us. Guiley also commented on what she sees as a rise in demonic or negative hauntings. The darkness of the 9-11 event may have created a rift in the time-space continuum allowing more negative entities to come through, she theorized.

Houdini Secrets

First hour guests, authors William Kalush & Larry Sloman discussed their new book, The Secret Life of Houdini. One of the revelations they uncovered was that Houdini actually spied for England, gleaning information for them about Germany, during trips he made there.
