Lance Simmens has spent nearly four decades involved in public service at all levels of government: federal, state and local. In the process he has devoted his professional career to a search for the most effective and efficient public policies, programs, and processes to benefit the society at large. He most recently served as the California State Director for Gasland Grassroots, an organization devoted to public education on the issue of hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, and promotion of the current HBO documentary Gasland 2, and was California State Director for the Citizens Trade Campaign, organizing efforts to defeat the Trans Pacific Partnership.
A devotion to public service and comprehensive and compassionate public policy still are major drivers in his life and when not opining on national and global issues he is actively involved in local politics. Lance is an avid cyclist, both bicycle and motorcycle. In 2015 he pedaled 9,000 miles and has dreams of bicycling from Malibu, CA to Key West, FL before he reaches 65.
