In the first half, publisher of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series, Amy Newmark, discussed her work creating a compilation of the best miraculous stories of signs and messages from beyond. The new book, Chicken Soup for the Soul: Messages from Heaven, contains 101 awe-inspiring accounts picked from thousands of submissions, she said. "Some of these stories I can't explain and I know that our writers are not lying," Newmark continued, noting her tendency toward rational skepticism. They are reporting on experiences that really did happen to them and, though their accounts may defy explanation, it is very hard to remain skeptical, she added.
A fellow co-worker told Newmark about an eerily prescient nightmare she had in college, in which her grandfather was captured by a huge shadowy form and stabbed through the heart. The next day, her grandfather died of a massive heart attack, and she later found out that her grandmother had the same dream, Newmark revealed. She also shared a story about a woman who received a visit from beyond after suffering for days in agonizing misery following abdominal surgery. According to Newmark, the woman's mother, who had died eight years earlier, informed her that the excruciating pain was caused by blood clots—a diagnosis confirmed by the woman's doctor.

During Open Lines, Bobby in Arlington, Texas, confessed to writing out a plan to "take care of" the person he blamed for his wife's death. Bobby recalled hearing noises coming from his kitchen on the day it was to happen and, upon investigation, discovered his deceased wife standing there. She admonished him not to go through with it, and comforted him as they sat together on a couch, he explained. According to Bobby, she returned two weeks ago to spend a special week together with him.
John in Los Angeles told George about a family who moved out of their apartment after their four-year-old passed away. He said the woman who moved in afterward reported seeing a little boy with gray flesh and black eyes. On one occasion, a disbelieving social worker was informed by the woman of the boy's appearance in the hallway, felt a cold chill go through him, and turned in time to see the bedroom door close, John revealed.
