Meeting Sasquatch

"I was in a state of shock-- totally frozen," said Dr. Matthew Johnson, a licensed clinical psychologist, who on Tuesday night's show, described his reaction upon first seeing a Sasquatch. He encountered the creature while hiking with his family along the Big Tree Loop Trail in Oregon, and said that at first they noticed an unusual skunk-like stench and heard deep guttural mammal sounds.

Johnson described the creature as "very tall, well-built, with a protruding brow ridge, a flat nose and face-- with dark brown to black hair." He said it walked upright and moved "swiftly, smoothly and quietly." The emotion was evident in Johnson's voice as he recounted his experience, an event that was to change the direction of his life. He has since become active in Bigfoot research has teamed up with the Southern Oregon Bigfoot Society to try to observe the creatures in their habitat.

Suggesting that these creatures may be a type of undocumented Gigantopithecus, Johnson does not espouse to theories that the Sasquatch is either a missing link or of ET/interdimensional origins. Rather he believes the creatures are "intelligent, docile animals that are curious, elusive and capable of developing trust." Toward that end, Johnson has been involved in leaving food bait out for the animals in order to further understand their behavior. Curiously, he said that they once left a 500 lb. rock in the middle of a logging ground, which Johnson believes was meant as a boundary marker.
