Adam Parascandola is the Director of Animal Protection and Crisis Response for Humane Society International. Adam focuses on coordinating policy related to cruelty intervention and response for all HSI offices, developing global strategies, and assisting in enacting and enforcing animal protection laws and other cruelty response. Before working with HSI, Adam was the Director of Animal Cruelty Response for The Humane Society of the United States’ Animal Rescue Team. In that position, Adam helped develop the nation’s most successful campaign against institutionalized, illegal animal cruelty. In addition to helping secure convictions against of dozens of large-scale animal abusers, Adam helped achieve the first-ever prosecution for felony animal cruelty at a slaughter plant. Adam also previously acted as director of Oakland Animal Services and served as chief program officer of the Washington Humane Society.
