NASA's Voyager 1 spacecraft has completed a historic milestone, becoming the first human-made object to leave the solar system. The 36-year-old probe has traveled about 12 billion miles from the sun and is now in a region outside of the solar bubble. Scientists anticipate Voyager 1 will continue providing information about its interstellar journey. "We expect the fields and particles science instruments on Voyager will continue to send back data through at least 2020. We can't wait to see what the Voyager instruments show us next about deep space," said Voyager project manager Suzanne Dodd. More at NASA.gov.
