Museums from around the world are showcasing their creepiest objects on social media as part of a nightmarish competition. The amazing showdown began this past Friday when the Twitter account of Britain's Yorkshire Museum declared a 'curator battle' and called for their colleagues online to share the most unsettling item in their respective collections. The offering put forward by the museum as their entry was a "3rd/4th century hair bun from the burial of a Roman lady, still with the jet pins in place."
In response to the challenge, other institutions in England as well as museums in Canada, France, Germany, and the United States proudly displayed some truly wild selections from their archives that included eerie dolls, bizarre taxidermied creatures, and weird artifacts. You can check out the complete thread here and below are a few of our favorite entries.
