An ex-official says the FBI can remotely activate a suspect's webcam without turning on the indicator light. According to a piece in the Washington Post, Marcus Thomas, former assistant director of the FBI's Operational Technology Division in Quantico, the agency has been able to secretly access computer cameras for several years but only uses the technique for the most serious criminal investigations.
