Residents of a town in Colorado were left scratching their heads when they noticed that a sizeable depiction of a sea monster had recently appeared at their local reservoir. The clever creation reportedly first appeared atop the ice at the Dillon Reservoir around a week after the state had issued a stay-at-home order to thwart the prevent of the coronavirus. It would seem that some house-bound individuals with a penchant for woodworking used the time to build what has now become a popular sight in the community.
Consisting of a serpent-like head, a middle hump, and a tail all perfectly positioned to create the appearance of a sea monster emerging from the water, the awesome art project even initially fooled the operations manager at the reservoir's marina. "It took my head a minute to wrap around what was out there," laughed Craig Simson. Upon closer inspection, it was revealed that the 'monster' was constructed out of pieces of painted plywood.
Dubbed the 'Dillon Ness Monster,' the origin of the artwork is unknown, but Simson expressed appreciation for whoever had come up with the idea. "We have such a creative community," said Simson, "I just love that someone woke up one morning and said, 'I'm going to make a sea serpent.'" The 'creature' is expected to stay where it is until the ice melts later in the spring. It remains to be seen whether or not workers will retrieve the wood and put the 'monster' on display again next winter.
